Music Review - "Disengaged": Delta of Venus Crafts a Shoegaze Masterpiece

Delta of Venus creates an unforgettable listening experience with Disengaged, a track that beautifully fuses the introspection of indie pop with the expansive soundscapes of shoegaze. It’s a song that captures raw emotion, brought to life through expressive vocals and deeply personal lyrics.

What makes the song remarkable is its emotional resonance and deeply immersive experience. This track invites you to lose yourself in its sweeping sounds and honest emotion, reminding us of music’s power to both soothe and provoke.

The band’s vision of shoegaze is evident in the lush, multi-layered soundscape that forms the backbone of the track.

Delta of Venus began in a basement practice room in 1993 when three friends decided to start a band, but with one caveat- they would choose instruments they couldn’t play. Dawn Estabrooks hadn’t picked up a guitar in five years, and wasn’t much a player at that time. Mat Tarbox had been cutting teeth in the Mystic, Ct indie scene as a vocalist for years, but was now going to play bass guitar. Ellery Twining walked out from behind his drum set, where he sat with local group 17 Relics for years, he would pick up the guitar as well.
